Glomax8K IPTV EPG: TV Guide and Catch-Up Explained

An IPTV EPG (electronic program guide) is the on-screen TV guide that shows what is on each channel now and what comes next, laid out as a grid of channels and time slots. With Glomax8K, the EPG covers 7 days of listings, and on supported channels a 7-day catch-up archive lets you go back and play shows that have already aired. This guide explains where the guide data comes from, how your player app loads it, how catch-up differs from recording, and what to do when the guide is empty or shows the wrong times.

What an IPTV EPG Is

On cable or satellite, the program guide arrives with the broadcast signal. On IPTV, the guide is separate data that your player downloads over the internet and matches to your channel list. The player then draws it as a grid, a "now and next" banner, or a list per channel.

A good guide does three jobs:

  • Shows what is playing on each channel, with titles, start and end times and often a short description.
  • Lets you plan ahead, by scrolling forward through the coming days.
  • Opens catch-up, on channels that have an archive, by letting you select a show that already aired.

The Glomax8K TV guide carries 7 days of listings, so you can browse the coming week from the couch instead of searching the web for a schedule.

How Your Player Loads the Glomax8K TV Guide

Glomax8K gives you one of three kinds of login: Xtream Codes details (server address, username and password), an M3U link, or a portal address for MAG boxes. How the guide reaches your screen depends on which one your app uses.

With an Xtream Codes login

This is the simplest route. When you enter the Glomax8K server address, username and password in an app such as IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate, the app asks the same server for your live channels, your movies and series, and the guide data. There is usually nothing else to type: the EPG appears once the app has finished its first download, which can take a little while on a large channel list.

With an M3U playlist

An M3U playlist is a plain text file that lists streams, one entry per channel. It describes channels but does not hold the schedule. The schedule normally comes from a separate file in the XMLTV format, an XML layout widely used for TV listings. A player links the two in one of two ways:

  • From the playlist header. Some M3U files name a guide address on their first line, in an attribute such as url-tvg or x-tvg-url, and many players read it automatically.
  • From a field you fill in. Most players that accept M3U links also have an "EPG URL" or "XMLTV URL" setting where you paste a guide address yourself.

Either way, the player matches each channel in the playlist to its listings through an ID, typically the tvg-id attribute in the M3U entry, which must match the channel ID in the XMLTV file. When the IDs do not match, that channel shows "No information" even though the rest of the guide works.

If you are unsure which login suits your app, our guide to M3U playlists and Xtream Codes compares them in detail. If your M3U setup shows no guide at all, switching to the Xtream Codes login is often the quickest fix, or you can ask the Glomax8K team on WhatsApp what to enter for your app.

On a MAG box

A MAG box connects through a portal address rather than an app, and the portal supplies the channel list and the guide together. The guide is then part of the box's own menu.

Glomax8K Catch-Up TV: Watching What Already Aired

IPTV catch-up (also called time-shift or archive) means the provider keeps recent programs on its servers, so you can play a show after it has aired, from the start. On Glomax8K, catch-up covers 7 days on supported channels. Not every channel has an archive, so the guide is where you check.

How it usually works in a player:

  1. Open the TV guide and pick a channel that supports catch-up. Many players mark these channels with an icon or a label.
  2. Scroll back to a program that already aired, up to 7 days earlier.
  3. Select it, and the player streams it from the archive, with pause, rewind and fast-forward.

Some players also let you restart a program that is still airing, which is handy when you tune in ten minutes late. Menus differ between apps, so check your player's guide screen for a "catch-up", "archive" or clock icon.

Catch-Up vs Recording

The two are easy to confuse, but they work in different places.

Catch-upRecording
Where the show is storedOn the provider's serversOn your device or a USB drive
What you need to doNothing in advanceSchedule it before or while it airs
How long it staysWithin the catch-up window (7 days on supported Glomax8K channels)Until you delete it, as long as storage lasts

Catch-up is the low-effort option: if you missed something on a supported Glomax8K channel, it is simply there for the next 7 days. Recording only makes sense when you want to keep a program longer, and it depends on your player having that feature and enough storage.

Fixing a Missing or Shifted Glomax8K EPG

Most guide problems come from a handful of causes. Work through them in this order.

The guide is empty

  • Give it time on first login. The first guide download on a large channel list can take a while. Leave the app open on the home screen and check again.
  • Refresh the EPG. Most players have an "Update EPG", "Refresh guide" or "Reload" option in settings. Use it after logging in and whenever the guide looks stale.
  • Check the login type. On M3U, confirm a guide address is set either in the playlist header or in the app's EPG field, or switch to the Xtream Codes login.
  • Check that the plan is active. An expired subscription stops both channels and guide data.

The times are off by an hour or more

A shifted guide is almost always a time zone issue. XMLTV listings carry their own time zone offset, and the player converts them to your local time using its own setting or the device's.

  • Set the device clock correctly, with automatic date, time and time zone switched on where possible.
  • Check the player's EPG time offset. Many players have a "time shift" or "EPG offset" setting; set it to zero first, then adjust in one-hour steps only if the guide is still off.
  • Remember daylight saving time. If the guide shifted by exactly one hour after the clocks changed, refresh the EPG and check the offset setting again.

Only some channels have no listings

This is usually a channel ID mismatch, or a channel for which no listings are published. If a channel you watch often has no guide, tell the Glomax8K support team on WhatsApp which channel and which app you use.

Glomax8K IPTV EPG and Catch-Up FAQ

What is EPG in IPTV?

EPG stands for electronic program guide. In IPTV it is the on-screen TV guide your player downloads and shows as a grid of channels and times. With Glomax8K, it covers 7 days of listings.

How do I get the EPG on my IPTV app?

With an Xtream Codes login, the app loads the guide from the same server automatically, so you only need to wait for the first download or tap "Update EPG". With an M3U link, the guide comes from an XMLTV address, either named in the playlist header or entered in the app's EPG setting.

Why is my IPTV EPG not showing?

The usual causes are a first download that has not finished, a guide that needs a manual refresh, an M3U setup with no guide address, or an expired plan. Refresh the EPG first, then check the login type. If one channel is blank while others work, its channel ID probably does not match the guide data.

How does IPTV catch-up work?

The provider keeps recent programs from supported channels on its servers. You open the guide, scroll back to a show that already aired and play it from the start. Glomax8K keeps 7 days of catch-up on supported channels.

Is catch-up the same as recording?

No. Catch-up plays shows from the provider's archive and needs no planning or storage on your side, but only within the catch-up window. Recording saves a show to your device, so you have to schedule it and have room for it.

Glomax8K IPTV EPG: The Short Version

The Glomax8K IPTV EPG gives you a 7-day TV guide, and supported channels add 7 days of catch-up you can open straight from that guide. With an Xtream Codes login the guide loads by itself; with M3U it needs an XMLTV address; and most problems are fixed by a refresh or a time zone setting. Every plan includes the guide and catch-up, priced on the plans page, and you can ask for a free trial on WhatsApp to see the guide in your own app first. New to all of this?
